Cardinals Drop Pitcher's Duel to Skipjacks

The CCBC Catonsville Cardinals took on the Chesapeake College Ship jacks in a doubleheader match on Marth 31st. In a game that was best described as an endless battle of tug-of-war, the Cardinals would fall short at the very last second.

Through seven played innings of regulation, both teams' fields would dominate with every single fielding opportunity introduced to them. Chesapeake's pitcher, Oliva Wheel took charge and led her field with three strikeouts and only a single hit allowed. This performance was matched with Cardinals freshman pitcher, Kayleigh Rishel (Leonardtown High) finished the day with four strikeouts and four runs allowed. The Cardinals' batting presence would end up not providing the teams with any meaningful favors, causing a Chesapeake run late in the sixth inning, too much to overcome.

In what we've seen in past games, the Cardinals find themselves playing the field at an elite level but failed to compensate for this performance with a strong batting presence able to generate momentum and sneak in needed runs.
