Early Lead Sends Men's Soccer Past Chesapeake

WYE MILLS, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team won its third-straight game, defeating host Chesapeake, 6-1, Thursday evening.

The Riverhawks got a hat trick from Carlos Hernandez, who also added an assist. Jack Castle and Paul Kretzing also scored for AACC, while Joba Malomo added a goal and an assist.

The game was a tale of two halves, as keeper Ethan Miller faced just one shot in the opening half, but Edgar Garcia faced 10 in the second half, making eight saves. AACC built up a 5-0 lead by halftime.

Castle struck first for AACC in the 14th minute, followed by Hernandez's first goal just four minutes later. Malomo made it 3-0 in the 26th minute, before Kretzing and Hernandez scored six minutes apart for a 5-0 lead headed into the break.

Hernandez edged AACC ahead by six in the 55th minute, and Chesapeake closed out the game with two goals – one in the 69th minute and one with less than four minutes remaining.

AACC is back in action Thursday, April 22nd, in a 7 pm home game against Frederick.
