Women's Basketball Wins Two In A Row

North Branch, NJ - The RVCC Women's Basketball team has won two games in a row now for the second time this season after defeating Lehigh Carbon on Thursday and Chesapeake on Saturday. During Thursday's game against Lehigh Carbon all seven players to enter the game for the Lions scored a bucket with four players finishing in double figures. Tiana Presley set her new career high, for this second time this week, with 29 points followed by 14 each from Kerine Thomas and Antonia Polvere. Rocío Martín Muñoz made her 2022-23 season debut and was the fourth player to finish with double digit points as she ended the night with 10 to go along with 6 rebounds and a team high 9 assists. Presley recorded her second double double of the week as she grabbed 12 boards to lead the Lions on the night. Alexia Mia Martí, Makhia Robinson and Polvere each grabbed 7 boards of their own. In her first start of the year, freshman Emily Norgard finished the first half with an and one as the time expired to give her 3 points and 5 boards on the night. 

Saturday's contest was much tighter as the Lions found themselves down 4 at half and down 8 during the third quarter. However, a few huge three point shots by Thomas, Polvere, and Le'Ana Brown pulled the Lions back in front in the closing minutes of the fourth. With 3:30 to go in the game the Lions went on an 11-1 run to close out the period and put the visiting Skipjacks away for good. Thomas had a monster night as she poured in a career high 24 on 9-18 shooting while knocking in 4 three pointers. Thomas has now made a three in every game she's played for the Lions and has 3 games in which she has made four. Polvere has also made a three in every game for the Lions as she finished with 3 on the night. The Lions now sit at 5-5 on the year and take on Region XIX foe Lackawanna College on Thursday at 5 PM.
