MEN'S BASEBALL

The Skipjacks came into their game Saturday against the Raptors of Montgomery College looking to build on their eight-game win streak. Game one for the Jacks saw their bats struggle to their standards they have built throughout this stellar year. With that said though when they needed a clutch hit or a sacrifice fly the team came in clutch and produce. Devin Hancock and Cody Forester both homered in the game which was enough to propel Chesapeake over the Raptors.

Mike YaSenka went 7 strong innings on the mound allowing 1 run on 3 hits and tallying up 7 strikeouts. This was YaSenka’s eighth win on the season just one behind Joe Nahas for the team lead. With the win in the first game Chesapeake improved to 38-5 on the season.

Game two on the other hand, the Jacks came out hot and put up an eleven spot in the first inning with 3 home runs (D.Reinsoso, Nepert, L.Reinsoso). Chesapeake was not done there though they exploded and scored 24 runs in game two. The bats were as hot as can be with the team finishing with 11 total home runs, a single game record for the Jacks. The home run surge was led by Dylan Nepert with 4 (single game record), followed by Christian Murphy with 3, and the Reinsoso brothers each with 2.

Six of the nine starters had multiple hits in the game, while 5 of them also had 2 or more RBIS. Nepert had a career game going 5 for 5 with 4 homeruns, 5 runs scored, and 7 RBIS. This offense for the Skipjacks Is deep and have been giving opposing pitchers problems all year.

On the year the Jacks as a team are hitting 365, with a 472 on base percentage, and a total of 60 homeruns. These stats and the hard work of the players have propelled the jacks to a 39-5 record and 19-1 in the conference.

Next up for the Skipjacks is Potomac State of WV away.
