Bio

Scott Milligan will be entering his third year with the Skipjacks.  Milligan primarily works with hitting, as well as infield and outfield defense along with coaching first base.  He also played two seasons at Chesapeake, graduating in 1990.

Prior to returning to Wye Mills, Milligan was an assistant coach at Washington College for two and a half years.  While at Washington, Milligan focused on hitting and outfield defense.  In his first year he helped guide senior Ryan Normoyle to the 2012 Centennial Conference Player of the Year, second-team all-region by the ABCA, and third-team by D3Baseball.com awards.  He also guided Sean Connole to first-team (2012) and second-team (2013) all-conference selections, along with Bryan Baquer (2013) to an All-Centennial Conference honorable mention and the most ever hits (56) by a freshman in Centennial history.

Before moving on to coach at the college level, Milligan was the head boy’s varsity baseball coach at nearby Kent County High School in Worton, MD and Colonel Richardson High School in Federalsburg, MD.  During his nine years at the two schools, he posted a combined record of 116-75 (35-23 at Kent County and 81-52 at Colonel Richardson). He was named the All Mid-Shore Coach of the Year three times, sharing the award in 2006 and being named its sole recipient in 2007 and again in 2010.  He was also named the Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches District VIII Coach of the Year in 2007 after leading Colonel Richardson to the Class 1A Maryland State Championship.  The following year, Colonel Richardson won the Bayside Conference Championship.

Milligan served as the Vice President of the Bayside Baseball Coaches Association from 2006 to 2011 and as the Maryland 1A East Region Tournament Director and District VIII Maryland State Baseball Committee representative from 2005 to 2011.

A 1993 graduate of Division II Bluefield State College with a B.S. in Middle/Adolescent Education, Milligan was a two-time All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection during his collegiate playing days.  He later earned an M.A. in Post Secondary Education from Salisbury University.

Milligan works as a physical education teacher at Kent County High School.  He resides in Chestertown, MD with his wife Diana and their two daughters, Catherine and Caroline.
