Maryland JUCO Names January Student Athletes of the Month

BALTIMORE (March 14, 2018) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Anthony Tate (men’s basketball) and Ryan Holder (women’s basketball) as its Student Athletes of the Month for February 2018.

 

Tate (Chesapeake College | Takoma Academy) averaged 31.3 points per game, while shooting 46.2 percent from the field in February. He hit 82.4 percent of his free throws and averaged 4.8 rebounds per game.

Tate is the fourth in the conference in scoring and leads the conference in assists with five per game. He has been the catalyst for Chesapeake College all year. He scored 30 points on February 2 in an 88-64 win over Hagerstown Community College. Tate scored 125 points in the month of February.

Holder (Harford Community College | Roland Park H.S) registered 12.5 points per game, while shooting 50.8 percent from the field. She made 40 percent of her three-point attempts and averaged 9.2 rebounds per game. Holder scored 75 points in the month of February.

Holder was awarded Maryland Juco Conference Tournament MVP, Maryland Juco Conference Player of the Year and picked up her second NJCAA Division I Player of the Week honors (February 2-14) after averaging 13.8 points per game and three blocks per game that week.
