Chesapeake Secures Win Over Hawks

WYE MILLS, MD - The Chesapeake men's basketball team welcomed the Hagerstown Hawks into Skipjack Arena on Wednesday, December 15th for a start time of 7:00 PM, promptly following the women's game. Ultimately, the Skipjack's held their own and came out on top of the Hawks with a final result of 83-63. With the win, Chesapeake ended the 2021 year with an impressive record of 11-1.

In the first half of the game, Chesapeake was continually establishing their rhythm in which they would continue to uphold throughout the game. Point leaders of the half were led by #4 DJ Earl who showed up to fight that night with a solid 18 points to show for at the end of the half. #5 JayShaun Freeman wasn't too far behind his teammate, scoring his own 12 points for the Skipjacks. 

At the half, the score was in a good place thus far for Chesapeake, standing at 51-26 with the final half to go. The second half played out just as dynamic as the first, with the Skipjacks securing an additional 32 points, bringing the final score of the evening to 83-26. 

Looking back at the action, the standout acts on the court for Chesapeake included: DJ Earl with a marvelous 24 pts, 3 rebounds and 2 steals - JayShaun Freeman was another example of a  leader on the court, in total earning 15 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals in his Wednesday appearance - and #3 Terry White Jr. with yet another commendable evening with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

The Skipjack's will have some time off from game play for the holiday season, but will return to the court for their next scheduled game to be played on Thursday, January 6th, 2022 - in which Chesapeake will travel to face Washington College JV for an expected start time of 7 PM.
