Bio

Delonte’ Joyce enters his first season on the Skipjack staff after spending this past season as an assistant coach at the Indian Creek School under Head Coach Josh Pratt in the MIAA B conference.  Joyce helped the team advance to the quarterfinals of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference Tournament. Joyce also helped coach two all-conference players; Khalil Williams (MIAA B All-Conference, and Anne Arundel County First Team All-County), and Khiyon Washington (MIAA B All-Conference).

After finishing his collegiate playing career in 2015, Joyce served as a student assistant coach at Bethany College (West Virginia) in 2015-2016 under Head Coach Nick Hager.

During that season Joyce helped the Bison advance to the semifinals of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament. Joyce also helped develop two all-conference players; Antonio Rudolph (First Team All-Conference), and Calique Jones (All-Conference Honorable Mention).

After completing his bachelor’s degree, Joyce went on to play professionally in Melbourne, Australia in 2016. He was a key member of the Melbourne University Black Angels. During his time playing with the Black Angels, Joyce was tabbed as a top ten player in the league after averaging; 27.5 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game, 2 assists per game, and 3.6 steals per game.

Joyce enjoyed a stellar four years (2011-2015) at Division III Bethany College (West Virginia) under Head Coach Andrew Sachs. During his freshman season in 2011-12 Joyce helped the Bison to a school record 25 wins and a Presidents’ Athletic Conference title, earning  a NCAA Tournament berth.  During his junior season in 2013-2014, Joyce was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-Great Lakes Region, Team Captain. During his senior campaign in 2014-2015 the Bison team captain was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Presidents’ Athletic First Team All-Conference, First Team NABC All-Great Lakes Region, ECAC Division III South Region First Team, and finished his career with 1074 career points.  Joyce ranks 23rd all-time in career scoring for the Bison and 4th all-time in career steals in the 111-year history of basketball at Bethany College.

In high school, Joyce played three years of varsity basketball at Annapolis High School under legendary Head Coach John Brady from 2008-2011. During the 2009-2010 season, Joyce was the Team Captain as a junior, a Second Team All-County selection in Anne Arundel County and helped lead his team to a Anne Arundel County Championship and a District Championship. During the 2010-2011 season, Joyce was named Team Captain, and was a First Team All-County selection in Anne Arundel County.

Joyce earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications (Digital Media & Production) in 2016 from Bethany College (WV).  He is currently a Middle School Social Studies Teacher at the Phoenix Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and also works for Level Up basketball training in Annapolis, MD.
