Skipjacks Fall to Nationally Ranked Opponent

This afternoon the Chesapeake College Men's soccer team took on their second highly ranked opponent of the season, CCBC Essex, ending with a final score of 7-0. The weather cooperated with a much cooler, yet still rather humid environment to play in for both teams.

Coming into today's game knowing the highly seeded ranking of their competitors, the Skipjacks were prepared to lace up their boots and put up a good fight on both offense and defense from start to finish. Goalie, Hunter Wriston, put on an incredible showing with over 10 saves in the match.

The second half was mainly focused on defense and using the Skipjack's strength of communication with one another to hold on and finish out the fight to the very end. All in all, the boys held their heads high and gave everything they had until the final whistle blew.

The team finished out their second season game with a lot to take away from such a tough fight, including a lot of positive reflection to be had on forward movements made. Following the game, Head Coach Tony Lhotsky stated that "as a program build solely with local talent, we have worked hard to reduce our past margins against older nationally ranked clubs with international talent. I am proud of this team's heart, dedication, and willingness to support one another on the pitch."

The Chesapeake College Men's soccer team is scheduled to face their third opponent of the season, Frederick, on Thursday, September 2nd, 4pm at Skipjack Fields.
