Skipjacks Prepare for First Away Match

The Chesapeake Skipjacks took on the Frederick Cougars this afternoon at 4PM with much more preferable weather conditions following yesterday evening's experience with the tail end of Hurricane Ida. The final score of the Thursday match was 9-0.

The first 45 minutes of the match were a great showing for both teams from the second the clock started ticking. Just under halfway through, a penalty kick was awarded to the Cougars, yet was unsuccessful as it was struck wide.

The battle for the first goal of the game was officially deemed to Frederick at the 24:11 mark when the ball stuck in the back of Chesapeake's net. Even so, the men were not willing to giving up or give in to being down. At the end of the first half the score stood as 3-0.

Following halftime, with the final 45 minutes remaining, the intensity of the game was at its peak until the final whistle. Once again, goalkeeper Hunter Wriston, ultimately continues to show up for his teammates with an astounding 26 saves to show for it. The Skipjacks now turn their focus on preparing for their first away match of the season.

The Chesapeake Men's soccer team's next scheduled match will be held on Tuesday, September 7th, at 4PM, following a weekend of well deserved rest and recovery for all members. The game will be played at Harford Community College.
