The Only Active Storm In Wye Mills, MD: Chesapeake Men's Soccer vs. AACC

Skipjack Field in Wye Mills, MD was most definitely the place to be during the afternoon of October 5th, 2021. The Chesapeake Skipjacks and Anne Arundel Riverhawks took the field at 4 PM sharp for a scheduled conference soccer game.

Weather conditions were closely monitored prior to and throughout the game by Chesapeake's administration, keeping a close eye out for any potential threatening conditions that could have interfered with the match. However, despite concerns for any active weather interference, prior to the soccer showdown, putting the event at risk of delay, cancellation, or ongoing disruption due to safety procedures and regulations - the 4 PM kickoff time was initiated as scheduled!

The game started off with a BANG at the moment that the very first goal of the game soared across the field, through the '18 yd box, and into the back of Anne Arundel's net at the 2:19 mark of the game. The Skipjack goal was scored by #9 Joseph Myers - with a well-placed assist by #6 Michael Kroeger. The duo executed a flawless dynamic right from the jump of the match, placing the first earned goal of the game on the board for the Chesapeake Skipjacks - instantly raising the intensity and momentum of the game for the home team. Come halftime, the scoreboard read 1-3 in Anne Arundel's favor - Even so, the Skipjack's were not willing to count themselves out of the match and were determined to go into the second half with even more determination than before to make a proper name for themselves.

As usual, the Skipjack's starting goalie #0 Hunter Wriston, showed up to fight and fight hard - putting up defensive statistics that only continue to prove this immensely talented goalkeeper's unteachable talent, dedication, and overall drive portrayed through his skill and obvious love for the game. In total, Wriston put up a combined 19 masterful saves in tonight's game.

Despite a final score to show of 4-1 Anne Arundel, it was truly admirable to witness the drive and skill displayed all coming together fluidly amongst each of Chesapeake's players. Following the game's conclusion, head coach Tony Lhotsky was quoted stating that "An abrupt drop in initial roster size and defeat against 2 nationally ranked teams right out of the gate would have rattled and disintegrated most squads. However, I am proud to see our present-day team playing our last 2 games with such heart and perseverance!".

The Chesapeake soccer squad is scheduled to show up for yet another fair yet hard-fought battle on Thursday, October the 7th, where the men are set to face the College of Southern Maryland. The game will again be hosted at Skipjack Field, with a usual kickoff time of 4 PM!
