'Jacks loss to Harford snaps winning streak

WYE MILLS –  Sophomore guard Janice Ladson shot a game-high three 3-pointers, and led the offensive charge with 19 points, but the Chesapeake College women's basketball team was overcome in a 89-69 loss to Harford Community College Wednesday night.

Shahra Madison (15 points, 14 rebounds) recorded her fourth straight double-double this season, joining Ladson and Chantelle Gross (15 points, 6 rebounds) in double figures for Chesapeake.

The game started with an early 21-4 run by Harford, cementing a strong 59-24 lead going into halftime. The Skipjacks rallied late, outscoring Harford 45-30, but it was not enough. The loss snapped a 4-game winning streak for Chespeake, who is now 12-7 overall, and 8-4 Maryland JuCo Play.

Dominique Walker led the offense for Harford (21-2, 12-0) with 28 points and 21 rebounds. Danielle Durjan recorded double figures also, with 24 points, joined by Daisa Harris with 23 points.

The Skipjacks play on Friday at 5 p.m., where they will host Garrett College at home.
