By BENJAMIN BRUNNER

WYE MILLS –  Second-chance points and strong offense in the paint led Shahra Madison to tie her own season-high, and the season record for most points by a player, with 32 points, as the Chesapeake College women's basketball team dominated Garrett College Wednesday night, 85-77.

Shahra Madison (32 points, 17 rebounds) also recorded her fifth straight double-double this season, and was joined in double figures by Janice Ladson (15 points), and Emily Truitt (23 points), who nailed 5 shots from deep. Ladson, Chantelle Gross, Chandni Taylor, and Natori Nesbit also joined the three-pointer club for Chesapeake.

The game started with a 6-0 run by Chesapeake, which established a strong offensive momentum. The Skipjacks entered the second tied 19-all, and edged ahead thanks to strong defense. Chesapeake led 39-32 at halftime, and led by as much as 17 in the third. Entering the fourth, the 'Jacks started slipping, and Garrett rallied late to cut the lead to one. The 'Jacks defense held, and the offense pushed ahead to give Chesapeake the win.

Hannah Henderson led the offense for Garrett College (16-3 overall, 8-3 in MDJuCo) with 27 points and a three from deep. Mia-Alexis Lloyd joined her in double figures with 21 points.
