Lady Skipjacks Secure Win Against Cardinals

WYE MILLS, MD - The women of Skipjack's Basketball welcomed the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals into Skipjack Arena on Friday evening December 3rd, for a tip-off time of 5 PM sharp. At the end of the night, the Skipjacks came away on top of the scoreboard with a 70-65 result over the Cardinals.

The first quarter of the evening played a critical role in setting the tone for the intense dynamic to be expected on the court for the remainder of the event. Chesapeake immediately came out embodying a powerful, unspoken dynamic between the team.

Come time for the second quarter to initiate, Chesapeake had officially established a rhythm on the court that was reflective of the competitive drive embodied between the ladies to come out of the game having secured the win.

Chesapeake finished out the first half of the game up a safe amount on the scoreboard, leading the Cardinals 25-40. The second half was just as competitive as the first, finishing the 3rd quarter, still managing the lead with 52-43. 

#30 Tatiana Holmes for the Skipjacks came out to battle for the home team with an amazing appearance, earning an impactful 18 rebounds, 2 steals, 4 blocks, and 3 points in total during her time on the court, playing a critical role for Chesapeake on the defense. 

Chesapeake's game leaders on the scoreboard were led by #21 Nathalie Arroyave with a commendable 29 points earned. Followed next with 21 points by #23 Jayla Irvin, and #5 Azayah Garrison also hitting double digits herself with 14 points gained for the Skipjacks.

Chesapeake women's basketball is scheduled to take on their next opponent on Monday, December 06, when the Skipjacks will be traveling out of Wye Mills to face off to the Hagerstown Hawks with a game-time of 5:30 PM.
