Chesapeake Fights & Falls to Garrett

WYE MILLS, MD - On Friday December 10th, the women of Skipjacks basketball ultimately fell to Garrett College with a final result of 59-68.

As the first quarter of the game ended, the Skipjack's stood in a competitive position, leading Garrett by a single point. By the game's half, the tables had been turned and the Skipjacks were put in a position of catching up to their opponent, needing 2 points to catch them and make it even.

Coming into the third quarter of the game, the score stood in Garrett's favor just ahead at 16-14. Chesapeake knew they needed to utilize the half to rethink reset and reestablish the energy in the game to the best of their abilities for a new half to play.

Despite the final result, the Skipjacks indefinitely remained in the game up until the very end and still managed to shine in ways of their own on the court. Chesapeake's #23 Jayla Irvin led the leader boards for the home team with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals to show for her impactful appearance on the court.

Skipjack's #10 Deliayh Mohomed was also a stand out athlete going 2-2 on the free throw line, as well as managing 9 rebounds for the night. #5 Azayah Garrison showed up to put up both on the offense and defense, earning 7 points of her own, as well as a solid 7 assists, 5 rebounds, and a steal to top it off.

Chesapeake will take the next week to recuperate and recover as a team and return to their home grounds a week to the day for yet another Skipjack showdown on Wednesday, December 15th versus the Hagerstown Hawks. The game will begin at 5:00 PM.
