Lady Skipjacks Secure Win Over CCBC Titans

WYE MILLS, MD - Chesapeake's women's basketball returned to their home court on Saturday January 22nd to host the CCBC Titans for a 2 PM tip-off. After an eventful and competitive 4 quarters of game play, the Skipjacks ultimately came out on top with the win, with a final result of 72-74.

The ladies settled into the first quarter quickly, establishing the initial tone of the game finishing out the first quarter with a total 26 points to the Titans 17.

#23 Jayla Irvin played a significant role on the scoreboard earning a profound 22 points in total. Irvin was followed closely by #10 Deliayh Mohamed who secured a spot of her own on the leaderboards, solidifying 19 points for the home team.

In the end, the game came down to the final minute of the final quarter. With 18 seconds left on the clock, the score came to a close 1 point difference, with the Titans trailing 72-73. 

Other contributing factors to Chesapeake's ultimate 2 point win were #15 Taiylor Bussey who came out to defend and maintain the close lead, impressively earning 14 points and 7 rebounds during her time on the court. #22 Na'Kayla Smith also showed up to fight for the win with 12 points and 15 rebounds of her own throughout the event.

The Skipjack's are set to travel out of Wye Mills to face their next up opponent, the Harford Fighting Owls, on Tuesday January 25th at 5 PM.
