Seahawks' Fight Falls Short in Tri-Match vs. Chesapeake and Anne Arundel

Cecil College was handed back-to-back losses Saturday by Chesapeake College and Anne Arundel Community College on Saturday, September 18.  

In the first match against Chesapeake College, the Seahawks fought tough but were defeated three sets to two. The Skipjacks took three out of five sets by scores of 25-7, 25-18, 20-25, 13-25, and 15-10. The Skipjacks were led by hitter Emma Stoltzfus who recorded 10 kills in the match. Emma Mckenzie and Devin Herlihy added 10 digs each for Chesapeake College.  

Despite the loss, freshman hitter Lydia Davis had a team high 10 kills and 21 digs for the Seahawks in the match. Freshman hitter Amanda Wagner added 6 kills and 15 digs in the match. In addition, freshman setter Crystal Lenk added 19 assists in the match for the Seahawks. 

In the second match against Anne Arundel Community College, the Seahawks were defeated in three sets by the Riverhawks. The Riverhawks took each of the three sets 25-12, 27-25, and 25-14 over the Seahawks.  

Karen Bautista led the Riverhawks with 19 kills while Angela Lucero added 8 digs and served for 6 aces in the match.  

For Cecil College, freshman hitters Lydia Davis and Natalie Diamond led the way in kills for the Seahawks. Davis totaled a team high 13 kills in the match while Diamond added 5 kills. Freshman Amanda Wagner tallied 13 digs and setter Crystal Lenk recorded 20 assists in the match.  

Cecil College travels to Delaware Technical Community College on Monday, September 20 where they look to earn their first win of the season. First serve starts at 6 p.m.
