Raptors Men's Soccer Crush Season Opener on the Road at Chesapeake 8-1

Montgomery College men's soccer team opened the 2021 fall season with a dominating, 8-1 victory over Chesapeake College Skipjacks on the road Thursday, August 26. 

Hurrich Engoue had two goals on five shots. Freshmen Marco Rocafuerte and Andres Javitt both scored two on their Montgomery College debuts. Returning MDJUCO All-Conference first and second team players Luis Aquino and Wilmer Escobar Jr both added a goal while Andrew Carretero tallied four assists on the day in his first appearance for MC. 

Marvin Mendez got the start and played 45 minutes in goal for Montgomery to get his first win of the season. Thomas Donnellan started the second half in goal, and Iker Matus played the final 16 minutes of the match. 

Andres Javitt Freitez got the Raptors on the board in the 13th minute off a Carretero to Aquino assist. Twelve minutes later, Escobar Jr. scored off an assist by Javitt & Carretero to give Montgomery a 2-0 halftime lead. 

After wearing down the Skipjacks, the Raptors scored four goals in the game's final 16 minutes. Montgomery dominated possession, reflected in their 24 shots compared to just three for Chesapeake. The Raptors put up ten shots on goal, while the Skipjacks scored on their only shot on goal.  

The Raptors, 1-0, host Allegany College of Maryland at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 2nd. Games are open to the public.
