Morgan Fitzpatrick and Victoria London each cracked home runs and knocked in three runs apiece, lifting the visiting Roadrunner Softball team to a 9-7 win over talented Division II rival Chesapeake College and a split of a doubleheader.
Freshman pitcher Janiece Roberts improved her record to 7-4, hurling seven innings for the complete game win.
The Runners, who improved to 22-15 overall, entered the sixth inning with a 9-5 lead and held on for the win after allowing the home team to score two late runs. Chesapeake fell to 20-5 overall.
The Runners dropped the opener by a n 11-4 score. London drove in two of the team's four runs while collecting two hits.
Coach Steve DePasquale's team continues their weekend series in Maryland with a doubleheader at Hagerstown Community College. Game 1 is set to start at 11 am while Game 2 is scheduled for 1 pm.
The Runners will return home for a doubleheader Sunday, facing off against County College of Morris in a doubleheader.
