Dundalk Split The Series Against Chesapeake

Dundalk Split The Series Against Chesapeake

The Skipjacks sailed into Dundalk on Saturday, April 16th and split the series with Dundalk taking game one 16-6 and Chesapeake winning 15-3 in game two.

Chesapeake was able to get on the board by hitting three singles in the top of the first inning with their leadoff hitter scoring. The Lion's responded by hitting two singles and a homerun to go up 3-1 after an inning of play. In the bottom of the second Aldo Mercedes hit his first homerun of the year to put the Lions in front 4-1.

The top of the lineup came back around for the Skipjacks and they were able to do more damage, getting bases loaded for a majority of the inning but Isaiah Coxon was able to get three strikeouts to end the top half of the inning tied at 4-4. The bats stayed hot as the Lion's hit four singles in the bottom half of the inning to score two more. A play at the plate prevented the Lions from scoring a third.

The party happened in the bottom of the fourth, 10 runs were scored off of 7 hits with GT Maggay's grand slam being icing on the cake. The skipjacks went down swinging scoring two more off a homerun in the top of the 5th but the Lions won 16-6.

Just like in game one, Chesapeake's lead off hitter got on and scored to give the Skipjacks an early 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second Ivan Gonzalez hit a single up the middle. He would steal second and go to third because of the errant throw by the catcher. Sam Richie would bring him home as the Lions tied the game 1-1. Three singles in the bottom of the second is how the Lions would take a 2-1 lead as Julian Samonte brought home Tristan Pomeroy.

The runs would come in bunches for the Skipjacks, scoring 14 runs over three innings beating the Lions 15-3.
