A Hard Fought Fall To Howard

A Hard Fought Fall To Howard

WYE MILLS, MD - The ladies of Skipjacks Volleyball fell to conference opponent, the Howard Dragons, after four incredibly hard-fought matches, on the evening of October 11th, 2021. Despite Chesapeake's grueling attempts to come out on top, in the end, Howard ultimately pulled through with a final event result of 3-1.

Skipjack Arena was once again booming in anticipation for Chesapeake to put on an exciting show for its fans following their incredible performance displayed against Southern MD the week prior.
Despite the result of match #1, the women knew exactly what work was necessary to execute in the next one if they wanted to compete for an opportunity at a four-match event in their home arena; and they did just that. When the time came to take the court for match #2, it was already evident that the lady Skipjack's refused to go down without a fight. From then on, their undeniable dedication for the game resulted in earning themselves a successfully secured 'W' in the books, and a score of 25-23 victory to show for it on the scoreboard.

The final two matches of the evening were the epitome of nailbiters for everyone inside of the gymnasium to support and witness the dedication and drive that was executed by each of the players on both sides of the court. From the first initial serve of the match, each team again began alternating back and forth for who held the lead at every moment. All the while, the entire atmosphere only continued to grow in suspense, just as the momentum intensified in a game that had the potential to veer in either team's favor. It was evident that the ladies of Chesapeake volleyball had put all they had into giving Howard a run for their money, all for the love of the game.

#5 Devin Herlihy was a core force to be reckoned with, racking up an impressive 22 assists and 5 digs - once again proving herself to be a major asset within Chesapeake's attack. #10 Ally Lloyd also showed up to show off her talents with a monstrous 9 kills to show for on the offensive attack. All in all, the ladies were ultimately incredibly proud of their unquestionable perseverance and comradery maintained by the end of the Monday evening event.

The women of Skipjack's Volleyball will step into Skipjack Arena for one final showdown of the 2021 Fall conference season at 6 PM this Thursday, taking on the Allegany Trojans. The ladies are anticipating quite an electric battle to unfold as they plan to end their season on quite a memorable note.
